Don Enns is pleased to announce he will be joining the team at WaswanayConsulting Inc. Don is a fire service professional having retired from the Winnipeg Fire Department (WFD) after almost forty-three years of service. Don retired as a Platoon Chief / Fire Operations, and in the past, was also seconded to WFD Headquarters, in an Assistant Chief capacity, responsible for WFD Special Projects. Don also spent several years with the East St. Paul Fire Department and held the rank of Captain responsible for fire training. And Don also served for almost ten years as the Emergency Social Services Manager for the East St. Paul Emergency Operations Committee.

Academically, Don is a certified Project Manager, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate degree, and has completed considerable training in data analytics. Don instructed Fire Officer Level IV courses, and undergraduate degree courses in Fire Administration, for the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC). And presently Don is an adjunct instructor for Dalhousie University’s Certificate in Fire Service Leadership program.

Don has considerable project management experience, and specialized in the development of specifications, and ultimately the procurement of unique heavy fleet, fire fighting apparatus for the Winnipeg Fire Department. Don is recognized as one of Canada’s most experienced fire service Incident Commanders and also recognized as a Fire Service Subject Matter Expert by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC), having developed a position paper for the CAFC. And Don previously conducted a fire department review and sustainability study through the comprehensive analysis of the department’s fire operations, fire training, and fire education and prevention paradigm, and through an extensive examination of the department’s financial operating past practices and current procedures.
